Who Is Roope Rautiainen?

Hailing from Finland, Roope has been a fixture in the European snowboarding scene for years. Known for his smooth approach and innovative tricks, he’s built a reputation as one of the most stylish rail riders around.

We caught up with Roope to hear more about his experience filming Melter 4:

What was your favorite trick you filmed for Melter 4?
"Hmm, probably my ender bs lip — it felt insanely nice! It also took a while to get it."

How does it feel to see your part come together in a full movie?
"First time I saw the movie, it felt so weird I had the ender part. Never had a starter or ender part before — crazy feeling. We had to change the song a couple of times for different reasons, but we found a good fit and it turned out nicely."

Who or what has been your biggest influence as a street rider?
"There’s so many riders, so I’ll name three: Toni Kerkelä, Tommy Gesme, and Jed Anderson."

What’s the most memorable moment from filming this part?
"Honestly, the whole winter filming for this was so much fun! We had good snow and a good crew."

Do you have a favorite city or spot to ride in?
"I think Helsinki and southern Finland are the best for filming, at least for me. We also have my two favorite ski resorts here — Sveitsi and Talma."

What’s next for you after Melter 4?
"We’re dropping Melter 5 this fall and hosting a premiere and rail jam at the end of September. Other than that, I don’t have solid plans yet, but I’ll definitely be filming. So hyped for the upcoming winter!"
